Wirral Coroner's Office ( Now Based in Liverpool )

0151 233 5770

On occasions when a death is sudden, unexpected, or if the deceased did not have any contact with any medical practitioner within the last 14 days prior to the death occurring, in most cases the death will be referred to the Coroner. If this is the case, the Coroner will inform the next of kin whether or not a Post Mortem examination is required, to establish the cause of death. If an Inquest is to be held, the registration of the death will be delayed, and an “interim death certificate” may be issued by the Coroner’s Department, as a temporary measure.
